In addition to a media relations and events campaign for The Ten Thousand Things, Duckworth  Publishers tasked me with submitting The Ten Thousand Things for the 2015 Walter Scott Prize for Historical Fiction. I took charge of the publicity when this novel was shortlisted for the prize, which also coinciding with its in paperback, and when John Spurling won the £25,000 Walter Scott Prize for Historical Fiction on 13th  June 2015.

The announcement of John Spurling’s win of the 2015 Walter Scott Prize for Historical Fiction was met with wide ranging coverage in the national and local media online and in print. Highlights include news pieces in the nationals such as the BBC News website, The Express , The Times, the Daily RecordITV News ,  a video announcement together with a news piece and feature  in The Scotsman, and newspieces in in local newspapers The Sunday Mail (Glasgow) The Berwickshire News, the  Border Telegraph, the Southern Reporter, the Peeblesshire News, and the Berwick Advertiser.

I also secured news pieces in the two main UK publishing industry magazines The Bookseller and Bookbrunch. John Spurling’s win was featured on the cultural blogs  BookLive , Shelfawareness and  Bustle.

The Ten Thousand Things was also reviewed in The Sunday Times Cultural Supplement.
