Soho Dives, Soho Divas is an eclectic collection of intimate portraits of London’s burlesque performers created by renowned graphic designer, illustrator, and type designer Rian Hughes. Hughes’s sketches, drawn directly from life, have been further developed into graphic illustrations and paintings in a wide variety of media and styles, giving the artist a free reign to experiment with new approaches and ideas, and to inventively combine type and image. In paperback and silk-bound, embossed hardback – perfect for your boudoir!

Designer, illustrator, writer and typographer, Rian Hughes is the author of Culture: Ideas can be Dangerous, and editor and designer of Lifestyle Illustration of the 60s, Lifestyle Illustration of the 50s, and Custom Lettering of the 60s and 70s. His clean, vector-based drawing style has been ”appropriated” many other illustrators. As a comics artist, Hughes is known for his work on Dan Dare and Batman: Black and White, numerous logo and typeface designs for Marvel Comics, Valiant and DC Comics. His new Batman comic story It’s a Black and White World (both written and drawn by Hughes) has been published in November 2013. He recently curated the Image Duplicator show at Orbital Gallery, wherein comic artists responded to the Lichtenstein show at the Tate. Hughes is also the founder of the design studio, Device. His font designs are available at http://www.devicefonts.co.uk
